Manhatan of the desert
The city of Shibam is located in the desert of Ramlat al-Sab'atayn in Yemen. This city of mud is the world oldest skyscraper:- Founded in the 3rd century BC,
- 500 houses,
- Built solely in earthen bricks,
- Some buildings are moreover 30 meters high! It is for this reason that it is called the Manhattan of the desert.
- First city in the history of mankind having built "skyscrapers".
